VocabGo JP is a Japanese vocabulary learning app. All of its vocabulary is stored in the app itself, so it works without an internet connection. We believe in keeping things simple — including our privacy practices.
We do not collect any personal information. Specifically:
VocabGo JP stores your quiz and flashcard scores, learning progress, spaced-repetition data, and settings (such as theme and auto-pronunciation) locally on your device. We cannot see this data — it is never sent to us, and there is no account or server behind the app.
One exception is worth knowing about: if you have your device's own backup feature switched on (such as Android Auto Backup or iCloud device backup), your operating system may include the app's stored progress in those backups. That is handled entirely by Apple or Google under their own privacy policies, and it is what allows your progress to come with you when you set up a new device. You can turn it off in your device's backup settings.
Your progress stays on your device until you remove it. Deleting the app removes everything it has stored. On Android you can also clear it without uninstalling, via your device's app storage settings. If you have device backups enabled, you may also need to remove the app's data from those backups through Apple's or Google's own tools.
The app uses your device's own text-to-speech engine to pronounce Japanese words. We send the word being pronounced to that engine and nothing else — no audio is recorded, and nothing is sent to us. Some text-to-speech engines generate speech on the device and others use the vendor's servers; which one yours does is determined by the engine installed on your device and by your device settings, and is governed by that vendor's privacy policy rather than ours.
VocabGo JP offers an optional "tip" in-app purchase if you'd like to support development. It does not unlock anything. Purchases are processed entirely by the Apple App Store or Google Play; VocabGo JP does not receive, collect, or store any payment information (such as card numbers). These transactions are governed by Apple's and Google's respective privacy policies.
VocabGo JP does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. The only third parties involved are the Apple App Store and Google Play, used solely to process the optional in-app purchase described above.
VocabGo JP does not collect personal information from anyone, including children. The app contains no advertising, no social features, and no user-generated content.
If we ever update this privacy policy, the changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Given the nature of the app, we do not anticipate significant changes.
